LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST
I didn’t start my own journey to physical health until I was 43 years old. I was looking at surgery for a pinched nerve, was a type 2 insulin dependent diabetic, had liver enzymes that were way out of range, was obese, and had been taking multiple prescription medications for over 15 years. Most of all, I did not feel good in my own body! I had disconnected myself, mentally and emotionally, from my physical body and was in pain and tired all the time.
Bodywork and massage was a catalyst to help me change all of that. My education in massage therapy led me to discover the power and beauty of human touch and healing. My experience as an LMT as well as a massage client has shown me that our bodies are amazing at healing when we give them the time, attention, and specific work they need! I was able to heal from a traumatic event, cut out processed foods, and lose over 80 pounds. Now, I am no longer on prescription meds, have an A1-C of 5.1 and liver enzymes in the normal range, and was able to avoid surgery for the severe stenosis in my neck. I firmly believe that integrating my body, mind, and spirit using massage therapy was the single most significant tool in turning my health around.
So, NO MATTER what your age or physical condition, I would be honored to be a part of your health regime—helping you to be all you want to be! Whether you just need to relax or you’ve been dealing with chronic pain, let me help you move in the direction of living healthier, happier, and loving the body you’ve been given!
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to the needs of my clients. Each massage client is given a detailed evaluation and consultation to determine the best course of therapy. Each 60, 90, or 120 minute bodywork session is full (doesn’t include changing time) and is completely personalized to the client’s needs and goals. Sessions may include one or a combination of therapies, such as Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, or Sports/Stretch.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
I attended The Body Therapy Center and School of Massage in Swansea, IL, in 2013 with a focus on Myofascial Release Therapy. I certified in both Massage and Myofascial Release in January 2014 and opened Harmony BodyWork & Massage (now Harmony BodyWork & Float) in June of that same year. I have earned continuing education hours in Sports Massage, having worked on professional athletes at the St. Louis Football Club as well as sports stretching and conditioning for both pre and post running events. I am working towards my Cranial Sacral licensing and continue self-education on emotions and how they affect our bodies. I have approximately 1,500 hours of hands-on experience and have an absolute passion for helping people feel good in their own bodies!
